The kettle or water boiler has a metal plate fitted at the bottom in insulation material. During heating the kettle is supported by a socket base in which magnetic coils are provided which heat up the metal plate with an alternating field. The socket base can also contain a generator for converting mains current into pulsating current. The wall of the water container can be made of aerogel.
