The holding device for workpieces comprises a housing (1) forming a clamping jaw, the ball of which contains a pressure-fed inner space in which thruster-type pressure components (4) are arranged surrounded by the ball, extending outwards on one side of the housing and individually adjustable on uneven workpiece surfaces. In the housing is a piston adjustable in the extent direction of the pressure components. The inner space of the housing is cylindrical and closed by a cover (8). The housing in its cover-free side surfaces (11) is provided centrally with back-cut grooves (12).
