A method for lashing stacked containers in a ship has the lashing bars (17) secured to a lashing bridge (20) with one end and with a double grip at the free end, connected to the lashing bar by a central pivot (27). The grips are secured to both the upper corner fitting of a lower container and the lower corner fitting of an upper container thus saving one lashing. The grips lock into side profiles of the corner blocks and do not impede the action of twist locks.
