An effluent water treatment assembly has a water supply (4) to a sedimentation tank (2) discharging sediment via a funnel (8) outlet (10). Cleaned water is discharged via an overflow outlet (6). The assembly esp. works in conjunction with a water tank (22) temporarily holding a combination of treated water from the sedimentation tank and non-treated water. The water holding tank (22) has an outlet (28) from which water is discharged to the sedimentation tank (2) via a pipe (40). Circulating non-treated water through the water tank (22) sets up a strong current which prevents sedimentary deposits. Provided water is pumped fast enough from the water tank to the sediment tank, preventing mixing between the two fractions. Positions chosen for the treated water and non-treated water to the water tank minimize mixing.
