The device (1) has optical sensors (18) to measure self-illuminated marks on a printing plate in a defined arrangement on the layer of a printing format. A processing station (6) is arranged in a fixed position with respect to the sensors. Alignment devices automatically align the printing plate with the marks under control of the sensors. The processing station has several optionally activated punching tools to punch dowel holes or cut-outs.
