Filter assembly has cylindrical filter media sleeves (11,12) inside an annular supporting basket (60,61,62). The sleeves are connected to end plates (13,20), one of which (13) has apertures (16) allowing liquid (A) to pass to the annular space between the sleeves. Except for a central aperture (24), the second end plate (20) is solid, i.e. it closes one end of the space between sleeves (11,12).
