An X ray generator has a housing (2) in which an X ray tube (3) is located. The housing is formed by a cup shaped cylinder (5) with an end cap (4) closure (4). The cylinder and cap are separated from each other by a profiled seal of an elastomer material. The cross section is of a "i" or "T" shape. The seal provides electrical isolation coupled with a fluid tight seal. ADVANTAGE - provides electrical and fluid seal.
