Method for producing a card sliver using a carding machine comprises: (i) periodically resetting the working elements to compensate for wear; (ii) resetting by means program controlled actuator system(16); (iii) providing control data to initiate the resetting on the basis of wear characteristics of the machine production. Preferably the wear characteristics also dependent on the material being processed. The resetting and the method also includes initiating the measuring of production of card sliver as a function of delivery speed and sliver count, the resetting involves setting points moving radially to the card and carried out in steps with each setting point on one card side moving over the same path and is achieved by adjusting the flexible bend at several points.
