A reclosable closure (10) consists of two longitudinally continuous strips (12) and (14) which, when facially engaged, are held together by hook and loop fastening principles. The inner side of one strip (12) has two fields of hook-engageable loops (16), separated by a female seal profile portion (20). The inner side of the other strip (14) has two fields of molded hook elements (18) arranged to engage the loops (16) to hold the closure (10) in its closed condition, and a central male seal profile portion (22) for engaging the female seal profile portion (20) to form a seal when the closure is closed. Another reclosable closure is held together by hook and loop fastening principles and includes a resilient bead (74) that is compressed between opposing sides of the closure, or between spaced rails (70) of an opposing side of the closure, when the hooks (18) and loops (16) of the closure are engaged. The closure (10) is useful, for example, as a bag closure.
