PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the return loss characteristic by suppressing an undesired reflecting wave from a lens in the lens antenna configured by combining a radio wave lens made of a dielectric material and a horn antenna. ;SOLUTION: A cylindrical projection (or recessed part) whose diameter is nearly 1/3 of that of a radio wave lens 1 is placed to the middle of the radio wave lens 1 made of a dielectric material, and the height of the projection (or recessed part) is selected to be nearly 0.17 wavelength in terms of an electric wavelength. The lens 1 is fitted to choke an opening of a conical horn antenna made of a metal or a conductive material and a flange 4 for connection to a waveguide and feed power is placed to an opening of the horn antenna 2 opposite to the opening to which the lens is fitted. Then a return loss is suppressed based on the cancelling effect between a reflected wave from the projection (or recessed part) and a reflected wave from the other parts.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
