PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a target speed change, while preventing the generation of a belt slip by using a required minimum pulley thrust, even in any operation condition. ;SOLUTION: A drive side and driven side pulley required shaft thrust (Qdrnec, Qdnnec) required to the power transmission without belt slip in response to an input torque and speed change rate is found out and a car speed, accelerator opening target speed change rate (i tgt) and a target speed change rate change speed (d i tgt) are found out and a shaft thrust (Q dnnec) is set as a driven side pulley target shaft thrust (Q dncmd) and the drive side shaft thrust required to get the target values (i tgt), (d i tgt) is set as a drive side pulley target shaft thrust (Q drcmd). At the time of (Qdrcmd)(Qdrnec), the shaft thrust (Q drnec) is changed and set as the drive side pulley target shaft thrust (Q drcmd) and the driven side shaft thrust required to get the target values (i tgt), (d i tgt) is changed and set as the driven side pulley target shaft thrust (Qdncmd).
