The vertical cylindrical vessel (2) has an internal or external vertical downcomer (3) at the side. Its upper and lower openings (4, 5) permit water recirculation. An agitator (6) is located high in the downcomer. An upper central riser (8) in the vessel, discharges over a flow surface (9), and defines a peripheral channel (13) discharging into the top of the downcomer. The vertical cylindrical vessel (2) has an internal or external vertical downcomer (3) at the side. Its upper and lower openings (4, 5) permit water recirculation. An agitator (6) is located high in the downcomer. An upper central riser (8) in the vessel, discharges over a flow surface (9), and defines a peripheral channel (13) discharging into the top of the downcomer. A pump (7) at the center of the base, recirculates up to the top, where an outlet (12) controls the efflux. The peripheral channel forms an annular cavity. The flow surface has lower- (9), intermediate- (10) and upper- (11) sections. The central pump recycles water below the top section. The outlet (12) is made in the lower section. An air injector (14) enters the downcomer, below the agitator. The injector is a venturi, compressor or liquid oxygen injector. A flow straightener (15) is located in the main vessel below the peripheral channel. The vessel height to diameter ratio is 2 or more. Its base is conical. The top is spherical, ovoid or polygonal. The outlet (12) is height-adjustable and has matching shape.
