Night or day vision goggles comprise an element (1) to be positioned in front of the eye of an infantryman. The element is translucent to at least a visible wavelength band. The goggles also comprise means (2, 3) for projecting images onto the surface of the elements so that they can be directly viewed by the eye. The optical element is a filter comprised of interferometric layers and the wavelength of the light emitted by the imaging means is centered on the wavelength or wavelengths filtered out by the filter.
