An example of the machine has a stator (10) with a yoke (17) and three pole pairs (11,12-13,14-15,16). The rotor (20) has salient individually wound (31-39) poles (21-29) which are divided into as many groups as there are stator pole pairs. The rotor pole windings are connected to a commutator (50) which has a number of segments (S1-S9) equal to a whole multiplier of the number of stator pole pairs.
