The tool includes a central body (1) with an external contour, a cylindrical internal contour enabling the mounting tool to be placed on an external contour of the pulley, and a stop formed at its first end. A mounting lever (21,25) fixed to the central body, includes a curved sector (21) turning towards the central body and extending to the stop, and a lever region (25) extending from the curved sector. An independent claim is included for a process for mounting a belt with the aid of the above tool.
