Economic method and device making it possible to easily orient a satellite or terrestrial television antenna. The problem was to find an antenna pointing method which was precise, economical, not very constraining independent of the time and insensitive to atmospheric conditions. the invention uses the antenna (1) to capture and amplify the solar electromagnetic radiation received by a processing device (9) and signaling (5) allowing to recover an absolute reference of azimuth and elevation. We then use the electromagnetic radiation (12) of the targeted transmitter (13) to refine the setting of the antenna (1). The signaling device (5) makes it possible to have, near the place of installation of the antenna (1), any useful information (11) sent by the decoder (9) on the coaxial cable (6).
