Torque wrench has an elastically deformable body interacting with exchangeable gear elements and has two strain gauges (10, 11) positioned at different locations on the body and signal processor for processing the signals generated by the strain gauges and calculating an applied torque. The wrench further comprises automatic detection of the gear element used in order to change the gear element parameters for signal processing.
