Safety glass has a polymer coating applied in molten or liquid form at a temperature of 90 - 130 degrees C and is cut to size before its molecular mass is increased e.g. by reticulation or polymerisation. The polymer compound is applied, for example, by passing the glass sheet (4) between rollers (1, 3) heated to the required temperature by internal resistances. The upper roller (1) has an elastomer coating and a feed roller (2), while the lower roller is a driving one.
