Testing agents for carcinogenic and anticancer activity, uses mammal with one inactive Cdx2 allele

Testing at least one potentially carcinogenic factor (A) by administering it to a non-human mammal (B) in which one of the two alleles of the Cdx2 gene is inactivated, then detecting absence or presence of colonic tumors in (B), is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a similar method for testing compounds for anticancer activity by treating (B) with a known carcinogen and with test compounds, then examining for formation of colonic tumors; and (2) (B) which has been treated with a carcinogenic agent.
