Application of the technology of electrodialysis to the an aqueous solution to the hydrochloride of the required product in specific conditions resulting in the compound in non-diluted state and aqueous hydrochloric acid, potentially valorizable. Preparation of a 1,3-bis-dialkylaminopropanol-2 of formula (I) by the use of an electrodialysis cell comprising successively an anode, a primary bipolar membrane, a primary compartment, an anion exchange membrane, a second compartment, a second bipolar membrane and a cathode. The cell is submitted to an electric field perpendicular to the plane of the membranes. An aqueous solution of the hydrochloride of 1,3-bis-dialkylaminopropanol-2, (IIa) and/or (IIb) is treated by electrodialysis in the primary compartment. (both R1 are identical and both R2 are identical; R1, R2 may be identical or different) = Me, Et, Pr, iPr, n-Bu, sec.Bu, or i-Bu.
