Electric robot with finite operating states is modeled on the human neuron system and comprises a plurality of weighted inputs to a state calculation unit. A retroaction module modifies the input weighting according to the need to command the robot response to generate a given output. Dependent on a difference between threshold gates the robot delivers a digital value of n bits that is analogous to the cell membrane potential. Independent claims are also included for the following:- (a) a robot control method; (b) and further robot designs.
