Dynamometer has a body (7) with three supports (8-10), in the form of a triangle, for a link (11). A force sensor is integral with the second support (9). The link is initially taut and rectilinear and as it passes over the first two supports imparts a rotation to the dynamometer body via a lever. The imparted rotation forces the third support against the link, exercising a couple permitting determination of the reaction force (f) that is proportional to the axial force applied to the link.
