An internal combustion engine has at least one motor component which comprises: (a) a combustion chamber provided with a compression system ; (b) an ignition system for the fuel mixture; (c) some devices for the sequential passage of the oxidant and fuel constituents, the engine being of the supercharging type by overpressure of the oxidant constituents upstream of the motor component; (d) the ignition system incorporates an essentially spherical closed head with a wall enclosing the ignitor in a precombustion chamber, the head incorporating an assembly of orifices linking the precombustion and main combustion chambers. An Independent claim is also included for a method for the ignition of an internal combustion engine.
