The long telescopic tube comprises interior (1) and exterior (2) tubes, the interior tube sliding inside the exterior tube. The interior tube has an external wall provided with striations or grooves (10-17) perpendicular to the tube axis (y'y). There is a segment (3) able to be engaged and held in place in one of the grooves chosen according to the required length. An Independent claim is included for the application of the tube to the control of underground valves.
