Straw (1) for cryogenic preservation of biological material (A) comprises an inner tube (10) of biocompatible material and a coaxial outer tube (3), made of polymer, for protection and for carrying identifiers. The new feature is that (3) is at least as long as (10) and each end of (10) and the regions of (3) that surround (10) are flattened and bonded together.
