The device has a power supply, two contact rings/coils set around a metallurgical furnace electrode, and a set of two contact plates (6, 12). Two support coils/rings (7, 13) around the contact rings has a respective set of coil units (8, 14) linked between them by respective thrust operations acting on the coil unit and plate. A set of electrical connections (31, 32) supplies electrical power to the contact plates. The thrust operations apply the contact plate against the metallurgical furnace electrode.
