The database system gathers (21i,22i,23i) subsets of data from multiple sources (11,12,13) in a number of steps, then converts (21c,22c,23c) each subset to an inter operable language, such as XML, to produce an elementary file. A global file is edited (30') in the inter operable language to accept the elementary files. The global file forms the database from which analytic data can be extracted.
