The method for improving the oil flow over a converter clutch friction plate surface in which the oil flow through the pump, the turbine and stator, prevents the oil flow in a specified zone of the converter so that the oil flow is increased over the clutch friction plates and resistance to flow through the clutch is reduced. Independent claims are included for a torque converter and equipment for carrying out the method.
