The procedure starts with a digital radiological image (X) having a high dynamic. This is filtered, and one image subtracted from another in order to produce an image with a reduced dynamic, and yet with enhanced details corresponding to the layers of the organ through which the radiation has passed. The procedure for managing the dynamic of a digital radiological image includes a first stage of image acquisition, the image (X) having a high dynamic. The next stage comprises processing the radiological image of layers of the organ through which the x-rays (Y) have passed. The image is filtered by a low pass filter to obtain a context image (YLP). The context image is then subtracted from the radiological layer image to obtain a details image (YHP). This is then processed with a first processing table to produce an image with a reduced dynamic. Further processing produced an image of coefficients for weighting the image details, leading to the production of an image with enhanced details, yet with a small dynamic.
