The luminous stud allows the top cover (2), which includes a light source and optical system, to be oriented so the light is visible in the preferred direction. The cover has notches (5) round its periphery, which are aligned with countersunk (6) holes in the wall of the body (1) of the stud to form a complete countersunk recess which accepts the head of a screw (7) to fix the cover to the body.
