The cutter and lifter, for a nuclear fuel assembly spacer grid, comprises a tool holder carriage with a motorized cutter, and a system for moving it along a support. It has a second tool holder carriage on a curved rail to which the cutter is fixed, moved by a remote mechanism engaging with a coupling and with a positioning indexing and locking component. The cutter and lifter, for a portion of a nuclear fuel assembly spacer grid (8) supporting fuel pencils, comprises a first tool holder carriage (24) with a motorized cutter (30, 31), and a system for moving it along a support with at least one curved rail (26a, 26b). It has a second tool holder carriage (28) on a curved rail to which the cutter is fixed, moved by a remote mechanism (33') engaging with a coupling (33) and with a positioning indexing and locking component. At least one of the curved rails is connected to a plate (25a, 25b) with fixings to hold the first carriage in first or second positions while the second carriage is moved.
