A cationically crosslinkable hard coating for spectacle lenses comprising non- functionalized colloidal silica with durable combined anti-misting, and soiling and anti-scratch properties
A cationically crosslinkable hard coating composition comprising non- functionalized colloidal silica particles, a monomer, oligomer and/or crosslinkable silicone polymer comprising units of specified formula and with at least two silicon atoms per molecule, a cationic initiator and, optionally, one or more organic solvents. The units are of Formula (I) Z1(R0)aSiO(3-a)/2 (I) a = 0, 1, 2; R0 = alkyl (preferably 1-6C), cycloalkyl, aryl, vinyl, hydrogeno, alkoxy; Z1 = organic substituent comprising on or more of epoxy (preferred) and/or alkenylether and/or oxetane and/or dioxolan (preferred) and/or carbonate . Independent claims are included for (1) a method of producing a the composition by mixing the silica particles with at least one monomer comprising units of Formula (I), a cationic initiator, optionally an organic solvent, optionally one or more monomers, oligomers or polymers comprising units of Formula (II) and optionally one or more containing a unit of Formula (IV) or a perfluoropolyether of Formula (V); (2) a method of forming a hard coating on a support based on one or more thermoplastic materials by applying the composition and thermally or actinically crosslinking; (3) A hard coating obtained from the composition or by the use of the claimed method
