The assembly of a bicycle fork (1) and a steering head (J) on the steering column (2) comprises the fork being integral with a pivot (3) which extends beyond the end of the steering column to enable the fixing of a bracket by external clamping of the pivot. The steering head comprises a lower bearing (7) and an upper bearing (8) whilst and adjusting means (M) of the axial clamping of the steering head is provided. The pivot comprises on its exterior surface a zone (B) with first connections (13), the extension (3a) of the pivot on the side opposite the fork being deprived of such connections. A socket (15) provided with second complementary connections to those of the pivot enables adjustment of the axial clamping of the steering head. An Independent claim is included for a fork.
