The machine for fitting stretchable sleeves over food boxes comprises a reel (2) of tubular film (3) which feeds it to a cutter (5) which produces the sleeves. A drum (7) opens them and transfers them to a fitting turntable (9) fitted with a stretcher and securing plate. A conveyor belt (15) feeds the boxes stepwise to a fitting position (14) where the sleeve is put in place and the stretcher removed while the plate is still in position. An Independent claim is included for a method for fitting stretchable sleeves over food boxes.
