Composition for dyeing human keratinic fibers comprises a conjugate (I) consisting of two mono-cationic azo, methine, azomethine, phenothiazine, triarylmethane, xanthene, phenanthridine or phthalocyanine dye molecules linked by a mono-cationic nitrogen-containing hydrocarbon group. Composition for dyeing human keratinic fibers comprises a conjugate of formula (I). D-Z-D (I) D = a mono-cationic azo, methine, azomethine, phenothiazine, triarylmethane, xanthene, phenanthridine or phthalocyanine dye; Z = a 1-20C aliphatic hydrocarbon group containing at least one N atom and having a cationic charge. Independent claims are also included for: (1) direct dyeing of human keratinic fibers by applying at least one of the compositions; (2) oxidation dyeing of human keratinic fibers by applying at least one of the compositions, which also contains at least one developer and optionally at least one coupler, in the presence of an oxidizing agent; (3) kit comprising the composition in one compartment and an oxidizing composition in another compartment.
