Non-destructive control of blank comprising two thin steel pieces glued together by interposed core of polymer by infrared thermography, for reinforcing elements of motor vehicles
Non-destructive control of blank comprising two thin steel pieces glued together by interposed core of polymer by infrared thermography, for reinforcing elements of motor vehicles
The control of a blank made up of two pieces of steel with individual thicknesses of 0.5-3 mm superimposed and stuck together by a polymer core comprises: (a) directly heating the blank by a heat source with a uniform surface energy density of 6-28 J/cm2 and a power density greater than 10 W/cm2; (b) cooling the blank in a manner to obtain a maximal thermal difference between the different zones having to be heated simultaneously; (c) recording the thermal distribution of the blank by infrared thermography; (d) comparing the thermal distribution obtained on the blank with a reference corresponding to that of a blank without defects of a size or nature that is unacceptable; and (e) deciding by a threshold on the acceptance or rejection of the blank. An Independent claim is also included for a control device implementing the process of control into service.
