The cylinder (1a) has an inlet valve and exhaust valve arranged in a cylinder head (2a). A piston is equipped with head (5a) forming a detachable bowl (8a) compared to the cylinder head and a fuel injector (6). Space is made between the head of the piston and cylinder constituting a combustion chamber. The cylinder head and the bowl of the piston head are widened to define an open combustion chamber. An Independent claim is also included for an internal combustion engine.
