The method involves determining, between some identifiers for point of network access, an authentication protocol identifier relating to an identifier of point of access to a network designed by an identifier, when a user wishes to activate a context between a communication equipment and the network. An activation request including the protocol identifier and the point of access identifier of the network is generated. The protocol identifier and the point of access identifier are determined in a correspondence table. An Independent claim is also included for mobile communication equipment including a device for generating a context activation request.
