Two blocks (4,5) have surfaces (1,2) which abut to form a joint with contact surface (3). The surfaces have conducting elements separated by insulated zones and the integrity of the joint may be tested by measuring (22) the electrical resistance along various lines between points (6,7). Any failure of integrity results in a variation of the resistance measured.
