The device has a piston (6) moving translationally in a principle axis (1a) of a container (1) by a control screw (5). A composition application grid (3) is placed at an open end of the container, opposite to a toothed wheel, and intended to be in contact with hair during coloration. The grid has needles (4) projecting towards outside and distributed between openings (7) for sinusoidally passing the hair above the openings. The screw has an integral toothed wheel (2) for turning the screw from outside of the container.
