Recovery of a polymer from a solution in a water-immiscible solvent comprises precipitation with a nonsolvent comprising water and a liquid that is miscible with the solvent and with water. An independent claim is also included for recycling a polymer material by cutting the material into fragments with an average size of 1-50 cm (if necessary), contacting the fragments with a water-immiscible solvent capable of dissolving the polymer and recovering the polymer from the solution as above.
