Composition for strengthening apatite-based materials comprises a titanium fluoride compound (I) and has a pH of 6 or less in solution. Composition for strengthening apatite-based materials comprises a titanium fluoride compound of formula (I) and has a pH of 6 or less in solution. (I) TiF xR y x : 1-6, but not 4 when y is 0; y : 0-2; R : K, Na, NH 4or a benzene or mono-, di- or trihydroxybenzene ligand. An independent claim is also included for a method for reinforcing apatite-based materials by applying the above composition to the material, optionally after treatment with an acid or demineralizing compound.
