The system has a load sensor on front bumper face bar, an acceleration sensor detecting acceleration and a speed sensor detecting the speed of a vehicle. A determination circuit determines whether an obstacle hurting the vehicle is a pedestrian, based on an output signal from the sensors. A controller circuit activates an actuator to remove a hood articulated to a front side, when the obstacle is determined as the pedestrian.
