The method involves enabling a preheating phase to attain progressively a predefined comfort level with a startup of a heating system and during which an introduction unit (17) of temperature setting is deactivated. The temperature setting of a thermostat (10) is progressively increased until attaining the predefined comfort level, where the thermostat regulates the room temperature measured by a measuring unit. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling a thermostat.
