The process involves transmitting an indicative information of initial transmission power, from a radio network controller (RNC 1) towards a mobile terminal (UE) using a base station of a universal mobile telecommunication system (UMTS). A change of transmission power for a radio link is driven by the indicative information, in case of reconfiguration of the radio link between the base station and the mobile terminal. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a base station or node B (b) a base station controller or a radio network controller (RNC) (c) a mobile radio communication system.
