The device has a base (20) to pickup and support pentanque balls and comprising a maintaining unit (26) to maintain a ball (2) housed in an orifice (23). The device allows picking up of the ball in the orifice of the base by descending action effectuated by a user. The unit (26) is returned to its projection position to preserve the ball in the orifice when lifting the device.
