A method of forming milled teeth on a milled tooth roller cone rock bit which comprises shaping a crest 125 of a chisel-shaped tooth 120 so that the crest comprises a convex profile from one corner 126 to another corner 126, where the convex crest is adapted to produce at least one of a convex axial stress distribution, a substantially even axial stress distribution and a substantially smooth axial stress distribution and where the corners 126 of the crest 125 are rounded. The chisel-shaped tooth 120 may be coated with hardfacing material 132.
