PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a new symbiotic fungus of terrestrial saprophytic orchid, Yoania flava and provide an efficient method for an artificial germination and the like for Yoania flava by allowing the orchid to germinate using the symbiotic fungus. PSOLUTION: This orchid-symbiotic fungus is a filamentous fungus that is thought to belong to a new group [tentative name: SLF (Spinulospora-like fungus), DEPOSIT No: FERM-P-19696]. This fungus has the shape of the condiospore similar to that of Spinulospora but the size of the condiospore is relatively large and the shape of surface projections differs and further the growing habitats are far apart and so this fungus does not belong to Spinurospora. In the germination method, the orchid-symbiotic fungus is previously subcultured and allow to grow thick until on the agar water, then the aseptic tissue of Yoania flava is allowed to live together with the mycorrhizal fungus.
