PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a new catalyst for modifying DME (dimethyl ether) not reducing activity by air oxidation and capable of suppressing production of methane even at high temperature at which a sufficient reaction speed is obtained when hydrogen is produced by modifying DME. PSOLUTION: 1. The catalyst for modifying dimethyl ether comprises a carried catalyst component having at least one kind of manganese oxide and manganese-iron composite oxide carried with Pd and an acidic catalyst component. 2. The catalyst for modifying dimethyl ether described in item 1 is the catalyst in which the acid catalyst component is at least one kind selected from alumina, zirconia, titania, silica-alumina and zeolite. A method for producing hydrogen-containing gas is characterized in that dimethyl ether and water vapor and/or carbon dioxide are contacted in the presence of the catalyst described in item 1 or 2.
