PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more accurately estimate the state of a road surface according to inner pressures of tyres.;SOLUTION: This road surface roughness estimator 10 is equipped with pressure sensors 35 to 38 for severally detecting inner pressures P of the tyres and wheel speed sensors 31 to 34 for severally detecting wheel speed signals of the wheels. The estimator 10 frequency-analyzes the signals to calculate vibration gain Gav, finds resonance gain correction coefficients GP corresponding to differences ΔTP of the inner pressures P of the tyres from a reference pressure PS, finds corrected vibration gain GH by correcting the calculated vibration gain Gav by using the correction coefficients GP, and estimates the state of the road surface by comparing the gain GH with a given threshold.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
